This February, we're excited to celebrate the Lunar New Year and Black History Month!
For the new year we will be giving away food to seniors on February 11th at our Chinatown office. It's an annual tradition! See the flyer below for more information.
We are also celebrating Black History Month, and we're proud to recognize and honor this important month as part of our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in all that we do. Please take a look at everything we're doing in San Francisco in this month's newsletter.
Happy New Year!
Lunar New Year Annual Food Giveaway
As part of our commitment to giving back, CCSC is thrilled to host our annual Lunar New Year food giveaway for seniors. This event brings joy and nourishment to our community’s elders, providing them with traditional and culturally significant meals to celebrate the holiday. With the help of dedicated students, staff and volunteers, we aim to honor the spirit of the Lunar New Year by spreading kindness and ensuring no senior goes without a warm and festive meal.

Youth Programs
Family in Transition (FIT)
Family in Transition (FIT) is a culture & identity program aimed towards AAPI students, but is open to all San Francisco high school students. Through monthly workshops and volunteering opportunities, high school students build confidence and knowledge about different cultures and college & career readiness, and feel a stronger sense of who they are and belonging in the community. We just started a new year with our participants, and just welcomed a new junior admin to the team!

Lunar New Year Street Fair
Immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of San Francisco’s exhilarating Chinatown during one of the community’s most exciting times of the year. The Chinatown Community Street Fair takes place the weekend of the Chinese New Year Parade. At the fair, experience Chinese cultural arts such as Chinese folk dancing, opera, drumming and much more at the entertainment stage on Pacific St. below Grant Ave. The street fair will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025 (10 am to 4:30 pm) and Sunday, February 16, 2025 (9 am to 5 pm) on Grant between California & Broadway.
Chinese Lunar New Year Parade
Nowhere in the country will you see a lunar new year parade with more gorgeous floats, elaborate costumes, ferocious lions, exploding firecrackers, and of course the newly crowned Miss Chinatown U.S.A. and her court. A crowd favorite will be the new and spectacular 288-foot Golden Dragon (“Gum Lung”). It takes a team of over 180 men and women from the martial arts group White Crane to carry this dragon throughout the streets of San Francisco. The parade is on Saturday, February 15, 2025 from 5:15 – 8 pm starting at 2nd & Market Street. Get more info here.
